This is a question I was asked recently by one of my coaching clients, it’s a great question, and struck me that this is where a lot of people fail. You follow a diet for 3 months, get great results, and then go back to what you were doing before (or worse).
Then, you gain all the weight back, and do the diet again, or try something new, because you say that first diet didn’t work because you gained all the weight back.
This is commonly known as the Yo-Yo dieter.
And I’m realizing that it’s not their fault, they actually don’t have anything else to focus on.
Common diets:
Whole 30
Keto
Blood Type
Zone Diet
Search for “weight loss diets”
Weight Watchers
Nutrisystem
Jenny Craig
Volumetrics
Vegan
DASH Diet
Engine 2 Diet
Ornish Diet
Raw Food Diet
SlimFast Diet
Thought process of most people
* “Diet” means not forever
* I only have to do this until I get what I want
Although these are the norm, they are not what we want to be thinking.
Long term plan
* This is how I live
* Stay on the “diet”, or modify it for a better fit
* Try something new – This is totally fine, but you have to commit entirely to anything new that you’re going to try.
Basically, you want to make sure that you’re trying to improve with each change that you make to your diet (or life for that matter). You never want to intentionally go backwards. And remember, the way you were eating that got you fat in the first place would be considered backwards.
Each change is another iteration of an attempt to get better. Constantly trying to get better.
