Find Small Farms that Sell Foods as Side Projects
If you live in (or near) the country you can almost always find small mom and pop farms that will sell farm fresh eggs, and/or seasonal veggies. And most of the time they are WAY underpriced. I’m not talking about the CSA boxes that can get pricey. When you see a sign for eggs or produce on the side of the road… stop to see what they have.
I know of a place that sells eggs in Enumclaw WA for $5 dozen that you couldn’t find anywhere else for under $8. And they are the best tasting eggs I’ve ever eaten!
Foods don’t have to be extravagant to taste good
Too often I see people trying to eat certain kinds of diets (Paleo or Keto for example), but rather than finding a few meals that are simple and really tasty, they look for these crazy substitutions that technically fit within the guidelines.
Don’t worry about recreating Paleo parmesan Alfredo, just get really good at making meat and sweet potatoes ?. Knowing how to properly season your foods will go a long way!
Look at the healthy food blogs, but really avoid the hard to create meals because most of the time they are going to be more expensive and not really all that much better for you than the real thing.
