What you get with Beet Nitrates
Let’s just go ahead and say it… you get beets without having to eat beets! I don’t know about you, but I dislike the taste of beets, but I know they are oh so good for me.
Did you know that beets can increase nitric oxide in your body? Yep, they can. And this means that you will feel like you have larger lunges when you’re doing physical activity. #awesome
The problem with beets is that they don’t taste so good, and that you have to eat them before your workouts.
The great thing about these Beet Nitrates by AMARAP Nutrition is that they actually taste good, and you can pound them down really quick without having to load up your stomach with food.
How to take them
I think it’s important to note that on the bottle it says to take the Beet Nitrates 30-40 mins before your workout, but I found that I could feel them working more if I took them 2 hours’ish before my workouts. And this didn’t disrupt my stomach as much. Burping up beets while doing burpees isn’t pleasant ;-).
Performance of the beets
On the days that I took the beets I felt that I had a little more gas in my tank during metcons (especially longer workouts), and even more so during endurance pieces like running, rowing, and biking.
On Saturday’s we usually do 30-60 min workouts that can completely zap your energy, but during the last few weeks these have been some of my favorite workouts.
The performance increase during for CrossFit athletes from such a simple product shouldn’t be overlooked.

Anyone who’s looking for a boost in endurance performance. There are studies to back the validity of beet nitrates, and it’s great that they are an all natural product that’s been made easier to consume. With so many products out there these days that are full of terrible ingredients, it’s nice to see something as simple as beets that actually will increase an athletes performance.
