Here’s the one thing
Identity – What’s your identity… who are you?
This is the MAJOR one thing that will change your life forever! When you have the identity of someone who does things a certain way, you will not question things that attempt to throw you off your path.
For example… if someone asks you if you want a smoke, you simply say “I don’t smoke”. You are a person who doesn’t smoke in any circumstance. That’s just who you are.
If you can grasp this and start forming WHO YOU ARE, then you can change just about everything in your life.
Sometimes you have to start smaller
Starting with changing small routines or habits will start to create a new you.
For example… if you create the habit of doing 10 push-ups every morning right when you get out of bed, you will eventually start telling yourself that’s what you do. And it becomes part of who you are.
Then you can build on that (those push-ups in this example) by moving up to doing more push-ups, or adding some squats, or even joining The Get Better Project and doing full minimal equipment workouts right in your home when you get out of bed.
At that point your identity will really start to change!
Me personally, I am a competitive CrossFitter. And wearing that identity creates a bunch of systems and rules for my life. No drinking, no smoking, working out 4-5 days a week (multiple times in one day some days), great diet, lots of sleep, and it goes on and on.
Here are some easy things you can change
Pick just one thing!
Morning routine – move – drink water
Tracking – diet – weight – workouts – reps
Reflecting to look for patterns
There are a lot of times that people get really ambitious and try to do too much, or change too much at once and fail. If you think completely changing who you are is hard… you’ll be right.
Start with just one small thing and build on that thing.
