Are you a fan of caffein?
Coffee, tea, pre-workout drinks, whatever…
I know that I am.
In fact, you may not know this about me, but I read a lot! Pretty much everyday I’m reading.
And one of my favorite things to read about is successful people. These could be business people, or sports athletes. It really doesn’t matter. Success leaves clues. Follow those clues, and you should have success as well.
Well, one thing that has stood out across the board is that many, many, many successful people are, or have been HUGE caffein consumers.
They drink coffee like water! Well, the real successful ones drink water too. 🙂
What I’ve done is tried to take that one step further…
Do you ever feel like when you first started drinking coffee it got you going a lot.
And now it helps you get focused, but it’s only ok… It’s just not like it used to be.
I sure feel that way!
Because of this I’m always looking for great caffein sources that can be mixed into my consumption process.
My latest great find is a sports energy drink called Golazo. If you’re a soccer fan you have probably heard of them.
How did you find Golazo?
I have a friend at my gym (StoneWay CrossFit) that walked into the gym one day drinking one. I asked what it was, and he told me it was a natural energy drink that he really liked. So, the next time I saw one in the store I bought it.
Once I gave Golazo a try I sent them a tweet asking if they would send me some to review on my blog, and the rest is history. As you can see, they hooked it up!
What makes Golazo great?
It’s because they don’t use sucralose . They use the sweeteners erythitol (sugar alcohol) and stevia. I wish it was all stevia, but the erythitol is similar to sugar alcohols found in some fruits which doesn’t cause a rise in blood sugar.
They also use caffein and yerba mate as their stimulants.
The addition of yerba mate is nice because you don’t see that in a lot of drinks, and yerba mate has several health benefits. Checkout the yerba mate wikipedia here.
How does Golazo taste?
Well, for the price of a Golazo I think you should try one for yourself. 🙂
I really like the taste. It’s sweet, but not too sweet. And doesn’t taste syrupy like a lot of energy drinks.
When is the best time to drink Golazo?
I will drink Golazo as a pre-workout stimulant (30-60 mins before a workout), or as a substitute for my morning coffee. It’s great for either situation.
And I haven’t noticed a crash at all.
But like I said above… I cycle my caffein sources. So, I might have Golazo on Monday, coffee on Tuesday, and Spark on Wednesday, then back to Golazo on Thursday. I try to not have the same stimulant for more than 3 days in a row. Doing this keeps the stimulant working great!
What else makes Golazo cool?
Golazo is a local Seattle company. They also have a sports recovery drink called Golazo Hydration, which I’ve been using as the sugar and electrolyte portion of my post workout concoction. The Lemon Lime flavor is awesome! I have my Progenex, and then slam one or two of the Golazo Hydration bottles.
Where to get Golazo?
I usually get mine at Safeway, or QFC here in Seattle, but have found that it’s harder to find away from the Seattle area.
You can order Golazo online at Amazon.com, or checkout the map on the DrinkGolazo.com website.
If you have any questions let me know.
