This is my review of the Inov-8 Bare-XF 210 CrossFit shoes. This is my second pair of Inov-8 shoes, my first being my bright blue Inov-8 f-lite 230’s, which I love (and still wear)! After seeing the release of these new Inov-8 Bare-XF CrossFit shoes I was anxious to try them out.
A few of the features that I was excited about were the slightly wider toe box compared to the 230’s, and the Bare-XF’s ability to rope climb without ripping apart.
I started out by trying the Inov-8 Bare-XF 210’s in size 12 (which is what I usually wear), but they felt a little on the long side, and I wasn’t sold on how they were fitting. I decided to drop down to size 11.5, and the Bare-XF’s felt like a completely different shoe at the smaller size. It felt like they were made for my feet! I’m was so happy that I decided to try the 11.5’s because they fit GREAT!!!

Now I needed to test the Bare-XF 210’s during a CrossFit workout (WOD). The first things that I noticed were how the Inov-8 Bare-XF 210’s were VERY minimal. The soles are hard so you don’t feel rocks and bumps on the ground too much, but there’s hardly any material between your feet and the ground. My other observation was how sticky the soles are. They grip the ground like crazy! During my first two weeks with the Inov-8 Bare-XF 210’s I did CrossFit workouts that included many common movements (deadlifts, squats, box jumps, double unders, running, snatches, cleans, and rope climbs). All of the movements felt great, and I could immediately tell that Inov-8 was thinking about rope climbing when designing the Bare-XF 210’s. The sticky rubber that I was talking about grabbed the rope like little hands, and the upper part of the shoe wasn’t phased by the rope friction at all.
The Inov-8 Bare-XF 210’s fit my feet so well, and perform so well that I’m not sure that I’ll be doing too many workouts in my Inov-8 f-lite 230’s. That being said the 230’s bright blue glow look great with jeans, so they’ll still be getting used!
In conclusion… The Inov-8 Bare-XF 210’s are the best shoes that I’ve used for CrossFit thus far, and I HIGHLY recommend that you buy yourself a pair to see for yourself!
If you’re going to order a pair I’ve found that my favorite place to get Inov-8’s is Zappos.com because they have a killer color selection, competitive prices, and free shipping (both ways). So if your size isn’t perfect you don’t have to pay for shipping to get the correct size.
