How often do you explore ideas, or thoughts, or even social norms?
This day and age it seems so important to explore why we do the things we do, and to explore (or think about) if there is merit for those things. We might just have a better idea, and need to change the norm.
When was the last time that you thought about any of these things:
Why you view yourself on one side or the other politically?
It’s pretty amazing when I probe into people’s political beliefs. I usually find that they haven’t thought much about it at all. And usually just side with blue or red based on one topic.
If you have an prejudices and why?
I bring this one up because there still seems to be some deep seating prejudices out there. And I’m of the belief that if you really take the time to think about why you feel (or think that way)… you might discover some interesting things.
This is also a good one to ponder if you don’t think you have any prejudices. Just take a look.
What makes you happy
Make sure you’ve thought about this one because if you haven’t, you might be living up to someone else’s thoughts of happiness.
And I bet you wouldn’t believe how many people haven’t thought about this. It’s freaking amazing!
How do you know if you’re even moving your life in the right direction…
The interesting thing is that you might have to try a bunch of different things before you figure out what makes you happy.
So, if you don’t know what makes you happy… that’s totally cool, but you should be working hard to figure it out.
What is important to you?
At lot of times the things that we think are important are just thing that the media or society has brain washed us to think are important.
First, take a dive into what you think is important to you.
Second, explore why those things are important to you, and make sure they are really worth it.
What standards (or rules) do you live by?
This is like the code of ethics that you live by.
For example… I don’t kill other people. That’s a big one, I know. Or… I don’t eat meat. Or… I am polite to everyone I meet.
This is really a great one to think about because it’s like the rules that you live by. Don’t you think it would be important to think about what these rules are?
A great example of this is that rule that I almost never drink alcohol. This simple rule makes it so easy for me to tell people that I don’t drink.
Coaching thoughts
After coaching quite a few people to live happier more fulfilled lives, I’ve been surprised how many people aren’t actively thinking for themselves.
So, remember, you can (and should) be exploring all kinds of thoughts. Including why you think the way that you do.
