Food
Water
Fuel
Top food choices during Corona Virus
You need protein, fat, and (maybe) carbs. Here’s what we are buying…
Plant based protein powder.
This stuff will last for a very long time and doesn’t need to be refrigerated.
Nuts & nut butters.
Again, lasts a long time, packs a punch with lots of calories. Please don’t ever by nut butter with added sugar! Please!
Fresh or frozen veggies/fruits.
If you can get access to fresh veggies/fruits without having to enter a grocery store, go for it. If not… buy up all the organic frozen veggies/fruits you can. They don’t taste as good, but they will be effective at providing vitamins and minerals when we need to stay healthy.
Veggies come first. Make sure you have the veggies before the fruits, they pack more of a punch.
Oatmeal.
Stock up on your oatmeal. Zero sugar added, only! You can put those frozen berries that you bought on the oatmeal.
Beans and other canned foods.
Again, stick to only the organic here. These can get super boring, but will last forever and give you a good source of fuel when you are trying to avoid human contact.
Meat.
We are about 95% pescatarian these days, avoiding meat most of the time, and sticking to wild caught fish and pasture raised chicken eggs.
That being said, if you are a meat eater… see if you can buy frozen, grass fed/finished (only) meat from a local farm, butcher, or lastly the grocery store.
And fill that freezer baby!
Stay away from crappy foods.
This is a major time to stay away from foods that are going to compromise your health. These are foods that have added sugar and are highly processed. AND ALCOHOL!!!
Think most cereals, most chips, most crackers, soda (never ever drink soda), most breads/pastas.
Think fresh, frozen, organic bulk.
Why is organic more important than ever.
Organic is important because most things that are not organic will (somewhere down the line) have things that are going to be hard on your body. Think pesticides like Round Up, which can even show up in meats because the animals are eating grains that were grown using pesticides.
This is a very important time to avoid these things because they will be hard on our immune systems.
ONLY DO PICKUP SHOPPING
Until this Corona Virus problem is behind us, you should NOT be going into the grocery stores (or other stores or places), unless you absolutely cannot do grocery pickup in your area.
Don’t be an idiot!
We’ve even resorted to buying all of our groceries at Walmart because we don’t have a Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s local (right now) and the Safeway and Red Apple in the area aren’t doing grocery pickup.
And even Walmart has high quality organic foods that we can buy.
Water
The virus isn’t in our water source, but that doesn’t mean that you don’t need water to survive.
I’m not telling you to go out and buy bottled water either. Just drink at least .5 ounce of water per pound of ideal body weight per day.
You need this for your health!
Stress
A LOT of people have told me they are feeling stressed right now. If that’s how you are feeling… here are some GREAT ways to decrease your stress immediately!
Practice Wim Hof Breathing
This is what I’m doing daily, and it not only helps you feel good (read less stressed), but it will also improve your immune system and cardiovascular system (read better workouts).
Start with 3 rounds of:
30 very deep breathes
Hold breathe on the exhale as long as you can
1 deep breathe
Hold breathe after that 1 inhale for 15 seconds
Repeat for a total of 3 rounds

Sleep
Making sure that you get enough sleep can be ground breaking in handling more stress and being less stressed. Sleep is the steroids of being healthy.
Exercise
Use this time at home to actually get into better shape than when you were able to go to the gym regularly.
It’s so possible and now you don’t have the commute time, or excuse of doing other things.
