Racks
Rogue Rigs – lots of space – website link
A rig or a wallmount would be my first choice, but you need a little more room to make this work. Like LEGIT garage gym (or larger) status.
The advantage is that a rig or wallmount should be bolted to the ground and/or wall. This will keep it from rocking around like crazy when doing pull-ups and muscle ups.
Rogue Power Rack – more than a little space – website link
This is a smaller version of the rig, and should also be bolted to the ground and/or wall for best results.
Rogue Fold Back Power Rack – small garage – website link
I would only get this if I had a small garage that I was parking my car in and trying to have a squat rack that folded against the wall.
Rogue S3 Squat Stand – moveable – website link
This is ideal if you know you’ll want something moveable. For example a rack that can be pulled outside on sunny days (which is AWESOME BTW!!!).
Kettlebells
Rogue Kettlebells – website link
Sizes in pounds – 35/53/70 (and maybe 88 if you’re strong)
Dumbbells
Rogue or Amazon or whatever HEX dumbbells are the best price..
If I were buying things in stages, I would actually buy dumbbells before ANY of this other stuff. Starting with the size that I would use for dumbbell Fran. For me this would be 50’s.
Sizes in pounds – 25’s/35’s/50’s/70’s (and then expand to other sizes if you have the space)
*For most things I will go with the Rogue brand because they are the best, but I’ve had good luck with other brands of rubber hex dumbbells (Amazon brand, CAP, etc.).
Barbells
Rogue Bar 2.0 ($265) – Men’s – website link
Simply a great barbell that will last for years! This will be good for all types of lifting.
Bella Bar 2.0 ($275) – Women’s – website link
Again, a great barbell (the same as above) just for women. This will be good for all types of lifting.
Bumper weights
Hi-Temp – website link
These are my least favorite but are still a great option, and are the most cost effective. The good thing about them is they are bouncy if you’re doing a lot of heavy deadlifts.
HG 2.0 – website link
A step above the Hi-Temp because they are a little narrower for loading more plats on the bar. These are also a more consistent size/width.
Color Training Plate – website link
My favorite plates, and what we have in our ultimate home gym. They perform great and are very narrow for loading more on a barbell, and for storage.
Change plates – website link
We all need us some change plats to fill the void :-).
Collars
OSO collars – website link
Simply the best of the best. If I’m traveling and have an important workout to do… I bring a pair of these with me. No joke.
Wall ball(s)
Rogue Wall Balls – website link
Dynamax Wall Balls – website link
ONLY buy Rogue or Dynamax Wall Balls! They are consistently the best quality and provide the most consistent bounce off the wall. I’ve been burned by other brands.
Sizes – 14/20/30
Rings
Wood rings – website link
Get the wood rings. You might think… “oh the plastic ring look nicer ad more durable” but don’t do it. Wood is where it’s at.
Jump rope
RPM Session 4.0 – website link
This is RPM’s newest, badest jump rope, but you really can’t go wrong with any of their ropes. Personally, I’ve tried a TON of other rope brands, and none of them spin as well or are a light weight. I can knock off 100’s of unbroken double unders with these ropes.
Sandbags/D-Balls
Rogue Strongman Sandbags – website link
Rogue MK D-Ball – website link
Climbing rope
Manila Climbing Rope – website link
If you have the space and ability to use a rope, GET ONE!!! There’s not much more functional then being able to climb a rope. Think Indiana Jones! This is essential for the Ultimate Home Gym!
Cardio
Rogue Echo Bike – website link
If I were going to buy 1 piece of cardio equipment… it would 100% be the Rogue Echo Bike! Rogue has basically built a better Assault Bike. It’s more durable, and smoother due to it being belt driven.
Other than running… biking with your arms is the BEST cardiovascular training movement you can do! It can CRUSH you, and in turn make you super fit (or think weight loss, fat loss, abs, whatever your shinny label is).
Assault Bike – website link
Still a fantastic piece of equipment that I wouldn’t turn down for a second! And if you have an Assault Bike, you don’t need a Rogue Echo Bike. Just if you’re starting from scratch, I would go with the Rogue bike.
Concept 2 Erg/rower – website link
Everyone loves a Concept 2 Erg, and you can’t blame them. It’s a tried and true piece of equipment that can build some serious fitness (again, read fat loss… etc.).
If you are building the type of ultimate home gym that can house 2 (or more) pieces of cardio equipment… you need a Concept 2 Erg!
Rogue Packages
Rogue Equipment Packages – website link
Although I’m the type of person that is really specific about what I want, and I don’t feel that any of the Rogue Equipment Packages put all of it together for me, they might for you.
For example, I would trade dumbbells for all of the kettlebells in the packages because they are more versatile.
Conclusion/Questions
This stuff is the stuff! So if you have any questions about your own ultimate home gym, just ask! I love talking about this stuff, and can easily go back and forth with you to get you all setup!
