This email is coming to you from a very windy Moab, UT. It seems like the sand-filled gusts always find us here, but they haven’t stopped us from hitting some of the local iconic mountain bike trails—including one of my new favorites in Moab!
Here’s what I’ve found fun, interesting, or noteworthy this week…
My New Favorite Moab Trail –
Burro Pass Trail on Trailforks
This is the top section of the Whole Enchilada Trail, and it’s an absolute blast! Sometimes chunky, sometimes flowy, Burro Pass offers a high-alpine riding experience that’s hard to beat.
The last time we attempted the Whole Enchilada, Burro Pass was closed due to a road washout, so finally getting to ride it this time was awesome!
If you’re not familiar with the Whole Enchilada Trail, it’s an iconic 33-mile (usually shuttled) ride that takes you from the alpine heights of Burro Pass all the way down to the sandy red rocks of Moab, and finally to the snaking Colorado River. It’s a must-ride for any intermediate/advanced mountain biker!
What I’m Re-reading –
Breath: The New Science of a Lost Art (amazon) by James Nestor
I’ve been reading (and re-reading) this book for a few years now. I’d get it from the library, make it through a few chapters, then have to return it, and so on…
If there’s any part of your body or mind you think could be healthier—whether you struggle with anxiety, high blood pressure, or frequent colds—this book and its exercises could make a HUGE difference.
What We’re Watching –
The New Season of Shrinking
If you missed the first season, it’s a funny, feel-good show with plenty of heart and great character development. And Harrison Ford absolutely nails it with his dry humor!
The second season picks up right where the first one left off, keeping up the feel-good vibes!

That’s it for this week! We were planning on heading out for another ride today, but with a forecast of 2” of rain, we’ll see what the day brings. The next episode of Feel Good Friday should be coming to you from New Mexico, where we’re trying to outrun the snow and sneak in a few more big biking days before committing to desert riding for the rest of the winter. 😉
Now go get that workout in!
Cheers!
Joe
