When you decide to go skiing you have to pack all of your ski or snowboard gear which can involve some planning and awareness. Why then do so many people completely forget to pack food with them and end up eating crap on the ski slopes?
I’m looking around at the people eating food in the ski lodge and seeing very few people making healthy choices. There’s lots of pizza, burgers and fries being consumed around here, and very few salads and home packed food. If you’ve read my blog then you know that I’m all for having cheat meals, and also think that it’s a great thing that people are up here skiing. I’m just willing to bet that this won’t be these people’s only cheat meal of the week. Not to mention that pizza and burgers are not the food of choice when wanting to perform well.
Maybe people just don’t know how to pack good foods for skiing adventures. I would recommend putting a bag of almonds and 2-3 Lara bars in your pockets and you will be good to go. Then pack some less mobile food like cottage cheese and apples to leave in your car. Don’t forget your spoon like I did and have to poor your cottage cheese into your mouth. It’s works, but can be messy. 🙂 If you’re going to be skiing hard than a homemade sandwich on 100% whole wheat bread is cool as well. If you’re going to be skiing hard all day it can also be a good idea to keep sandwiches in your pocket as well.
