Hi,
This email is coming to you from the lobby of the Oasis Hotel/Resort at Death Valley National Park. Where I’ve paid $10.95 for 24 hours of internet use. The good news is… the internet is fast!
Here’s what I found fun, interesting, or noteworthy this week.

My latest podcast –
AAJ 219: Has CrossFit destroyed the Open
The CrossFit Open has been a yearly staple for fitness enthusiasts for almost 10 years, but due to some drastic changes (by CrossFit) the registration has hit a major decline, and people all over the world are wondering if they should even bother with it.
Here are my thoughts on why it’s getting destroyed, but also how CrossFit could save it. I’d love to have you listen and hear your thoughts.
This weeks top adventure –
Trail running from Zabriskie Point in Death Valley National Park
This was a 5+ mile trail run that left us blown away by the stunning views and terrain here in Death Valley National Park.
All around us there are HUGE multi colored mountains with absolutely zero trees or plants growing on them. They are like massive badlands.
And don’t even get me started about how crazy the Devils Golf Course is… holy crap! We did not run on this. I don’t think it’s possible! But so cool!
What I’m watching –
The Game Changers on Netflix
Presented by James Cameron, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jackie Chan, and others, this is a look at how people can perform at a high level, and live a healthier life with the vegan diet.
Don’t get me wrong, this is very bias towards eating a vegan diet, but there is some good stuff to be taken from this documentary. Including, how much water is used by current farming practices. But, I do wish they would have painted the whole picture.
Workout of the week –
Burpee Strength by The Get Better Project
This one is incredibly straightforward, effective, and easy to do. Go for it!
Thought I’ve been pondering –
Tailgating
Not tailgating at Seahawks games, but tailgating people on the road. 🙂
If people know that it won’t get them places any faster, it’s putting them (and those around them) at a higher risk of accident, and that it’s probably annoying the person in front of them (just like it would annoy them), why do it?
A lot of cars these days have a beep or lane correction when they drive over the yellow or white lines. I think it would be super cool if cars were required to make an annoying beep when they got too close to the car in front of them (when traveling at speeds that are too high for them to stop).
Be smart when you’re driving!
