Hi,
This email is coming to you from the lowlands of Crystal Mountain in WA, where I’m looking up at the mountain asking for snow! It’s doesn’t look good, we might need to drive to toward the Rockies…
Here’s what I found fun, interesting, or noteworthy this week.

My latest podcast –
AAJ 226: 4 things to get you through the December Blues
If you are vitamin d deprived and live in an area where you see more gray skies than sun this time of year… let me teach you how I’ve learned to beat the December Blues. And it’s not going to Hawaii :-).
Workout of the week –
Living Room by The Get Better Project
I did this workout a few days ago and it left my quads feeling blasted the following day, which means gains are coming!
Find a living room and give it a go! If you don’t have a living room… a parking lot, bedroom, or grassy field will do.
What I’m reading –
Blood Biomarker Profiling and Monitoring for High-Performance Physiology and Nutrition
If you like digging into scientific journal reading, and have an interest in performance, this has some interesting info and thoughts.
Top post on social –
The rainbows that we saw on the NaPali Coast Trail were freaking unbelievable! There’s no filter on these. I guess that’s what we get for enduring 2 hours of pounding rain! Instagram
Thought I’ve been pondering –
Ok, let me set the scene for you… I’m in the Seahawks stadium with 69,000 other Seahawks fans. The Seahawks just scored their first touchdown of the game, and we are going crazy (jumping up and down and high fiving). I turn around to high five a couple of 50/60 something guys behind us, and the give me a blank stare, but finally… slowing (and emotionlessly) raise their hands for one of those really bad one sided high fives that makes you feel like they don’t care.
I look around the stadium, and there are several people with that look on their faces. And it got me to thinking… how many of us are currently floating through life on monotone medication induced benders that never stop…

That’s what I have for you this week. I hope that you are excited for the holidays and keeping yourself in awesome shape by not giving into the social norms of eating too much, drinking too much, and not working out enough this time of year.
Be different, be awesome, be the example!
Joe
