Hi!
Happy Friday! Here’s what I’ve found interesting, fun, or beneficial this week.
My latest podcast –
AAJ 125: I’m done with my diet, now what…
I talk with people about diets all the time, and so many people have success with a diet, but then don’t know what to do next. Well, here’s your answer. It’s really quite easy, and if you’re one of these people, you’ll probably feel like kicking yourself.
What I’m reading –
The Tombs by Clive Cussler
I’m pretty sure I was a treasure hunter in another life (or pirate :-)) because I can’t get enough of these type of books. I’m half way through this book in 2-3 days.
This is a fun story, with interesting historical references, and a great audiobook reader (Scott Brick). Good times!
My top Instagram post –
Working on the little things
Thought that I’m pondering –
How to reduce/remove unwanted event anxiety
If you’re a CrossFittter, then you are aware that the worldwide, 5 week, annual CrossFit competition (that we all use to rank ourselves) called the CrossFit Open started last night.
If you’re not a CrossFitter, this is a competition that the competitive CrossFit population trains the whole year preparing for. It gives you a worldwide rank, and determines if you’re elite enough to move onto the second step of the CrossFit competitions, called Regionals (this is still one step before the big show of the CrossFit Games).
That was a lot of words to explain why some of us might have a little bit of event anxiety this time of year. The question that I’m pondering is how to reduce the event anxiety, and simply allow the body to do it’s best possible work. This is the same for any athletic competition, or event speaking, school presentations, interviews, you name it, same stuff.
My typical solution is to do more of the thing that you want to become old hat, but in this case, it’s really hard to replicate, so how do you turn the pressure down.
I don’t have the answer to this one, maybe you have a good answer that you can share? If so, send it my way!
Here’s what I’m going to try…
– Priming the body/nervous system with a pre-workout workout :-). This is to burn off some of the adrenaline that doesn’t really help in this situation.
– Lots of visualization (ask me if you have questions about this)
– Binaural beats for focus. I use these for meditation, sleep, and creativity, so I’m going to give them a shot, and let you know how it goes.
That’s what I’m thinking. If you have any thoughts, feel free to send them over. I know I have some super smart readers.

Ya’ll have a great weekend, and let me know if there’s anything that I can help with.
Cheers!
