This email is coming to you from a (currently) sunny Enumclaw Washington. Chances are high that the rain is on the way though…
What a week we’ve had, lots of mountain biking, and more driving than we usually do in a month.
Here’s what I found fun, interesting, or noteworthy this week…

Latest mountain bike video release –
Little Monkey at Sandy Ridge Trail System in Oregon
If you like medium sized jumps that are mixed into a fun, flowy trail… this would be ROCKING fun for you!
All views, likes, shares, and subscribes are LOVED and appreciated!
Delicious cheat day pizza –
Flatbread Neapolitan Pizzeria in Bend OR
We’ve been looking for a good wood fired pizza place to end our big ride days in the area for some time. This place is quite legit, and recommended.
I always get a margarita to test the basics, and it passed the test for sure!
Humbling workout of the week –
This one is VERY straightforward and basic (as most of the hard ones are..).
Here you go!
21-18-15-12-9 for time:
DB push press
DB back squats
Pick a weight that will allow you to do the 21 squats unbroken when fresh, and the push press in 1-2 sets when fresh (this might turn into 3-4 sets during the workout).
Give it a go and see if you can do it under 10 mins!
That which I’ve been pondering –
Healthy food isn’t always healthy AND unhealthy food isn’t always unhealthy
PLEASE READ TO UNDERSTAND
I was in the park the other day (doing a workout), and I heard a grandfather talking to his grandkids about how they were going to have a special treat when they got home of banana splits with ice cream. The kids were maybe 5-7 years old.
It got me thinking about how clueless people are, and how this grandfather was (unbenounced to him) teaching his grandkids to eat unhealthy food without doing anything to teach them how to think about different types of food and treats/rewards.
There in lies the problem, the majority of the world does not know how to think about food, and they are usually not making any connection beyond their tongue and taste of the food.
Let me jump to a MASSIVE tip and way of thinking. If you simply understood how sugar (and high glycemic foods) worked in your body, there would be WAY less fat, diabetic people in our world.
If you simply understand that you need to stimulate your muscles to use the sugar (or high glycemic foods) that you consume… you will get a drastically different outcome from eating the sugar (or high glycemic foods).
So, the takeaway for today is to understand that if you don’t want to get fat from sugar OR jack your blood sugar to a type 2 diabetic state… Do a short, high intensity workout (running or playing at the park counts) right after or before the sugar eating.
Obviously, we could get deeper into the weeds on this, but simply doing a short, high intensity workout/play before or after eating unhealthy sugary foods will change most peoples lives. As long as they aren’t eating like this all the time…
Work to understand your body and mind!
