Hi Gals & Guys!
These weeks go by fast! Especially with the CrossFit Open here.
I feel like it’s a non-stop whirlwind, and we are only on week 2 of 5. Yikes!
Even with all of this chaos here’s what I’ve been playing with…
What I’m reading – Let me first give you my strategy for getting a lot of reading done. I read over 50 books last year, and plan on reading more this year. All audiobooks.
I set up my reading where I listen to an education book in the morning as I’m getting ready for my day, and while I’m driving to whatever I’m doing that day, and then… I listen to a fiction book as I’m driving home at night, and while I’m in bed falling asleep.
One of my favorite fiction writers is Dan Brown. I just love the mix of fact and fiction that he uses, and the history in his storylines.
Anyway, I thought I had read all of his books, but as I was searching for a new audiobook to download, I found that I hadn’t. I just started reading his book called Digital Fortress, and I’m sucked in completely (it’s only been 2 days!).
That being said, if you EVER read a book that you love, please let me know what it is.
What I’m eating – I love food, and every week my girlfriend and I meal prep on Sunday afternoon. It usually takes about 2 hours, and we will have lunches and dinners ready for the whole week.
We usually find the meals that we are going to make by search for Paleo and whatever sounds good. So, Paleo lasagna, or Paleo teriyaki. You get the point. Now, we don’t eat strict Paleo, but when searching for recipes it’s a good place to start.
This week we stumbled across a recipe for buffalo chicken sweet potatoes on the Against All Grain blog. It sounded good, so we made a few tweaks (as we always do), and cooked it up.
Holy smokes! This is amazing! If you like buffalo chicken and blue cheese at all, you must give this a try. Here’s a link to how we made it, and you can find links to the Against All Grain blog on this post.
Tech that I’m playing with – This one has been a long time coming. Everyone has always told me how awesome having multiple computer screens is for getting more work done, but I’ve always worked around it by using the Spaces functioning on my Mac.
This week I started using my iPad as an external monitor that I place just to the right of my laptop screen. And I’m using the software called Duet to make the iPad act as an external display.
It’s taking some getting used to, but there are definitely some times that I’m finding it great to have, and it gives me another use for my iPad.
My most popular post on Instagram – A video of me suffering through my last set up burpee box jump overs during the CrossFit Open workout 17.1. Click here to check out the suffering
