This email is coming to you from Kotzebue Alaska where we flew in a bush plane out to Kobuk Valley and the Gates of The Arctic National Parks. Here’s what I found fun, interesting, or super cool this week.

My latest podcast –
AAJ 205: My 2019 CrossFit Games Predictions
With the CrossFit Games starting yesterday, I thought it would be fitting to talk about who I think will be taking the top spots.
If you’re into competitive CrossFit you will enjoy it, but if not… you might want to skip this one and pick one of the other 204 to listen to :-).
Freaking amazing thing I did –
Riding in a bush plane that landed on a gravel spit in the middle of a river!
I know that a lot of you don’t really love riding in small planes. I know this because you’ve told me.
Well I felt that same way on my first flight (out to Isle Royale National Park), but this is my third time, I’m loving them!
And to be able to fly into the middle of the Gates of the Arctic and land… so freaking cool!!!!
My top post on social –
About 5 minutes after leaving Bear School (in Katmai National Park) we walked into this momma bear and her cubs playing on the road… Instagram
Guys! If you haven’t been following the bear pictures on our Instagram… you NEED to check them out!
What I’m eating –
Overnight Oats
Oatmeal has been my go-to healthy snack/feeding/meal of choice since I was 20 years old (so, for a LONG time), but I only tried overnight oats for the first time a few months ago.
This is because (almost) everyone that sells overnight oats adds sugar (this makes me want to scream at them, but another time on that topic). So, I’d look at the label and dismiss them.
But, when we were in Italy Emily added oats and oat milk (perfect combination, I know), and put them in the fridge overnight. And guess what… with some fresh blueberries it made the most fantastic oatmeal I’ve every had!
So, here’s the trick. You get your favorite type of oats (I like old fashioned), and you add about 2/3rds water and 1/3rd oat milk to a glass bowl, pop a top on them, plop them in the fridge, wait a few hours, add your favorite berries (or not), and enjoy like crazy. #boom SO GOOD!!!

When we booked our flight into the Gates and Kobuk Valley National Parks we reserved 3 days at the airbnb because the weather can get nasty (even in the summer), and they want to give you as big a window as possible to fly. So, today we are just hanging out watching the CrossFit Games, and it’s POURING rain out!
Here’s to experiencing awesome things, and having a great weekend!
Cheers,
Joe
