Hi,
I am currently standing at a friends kitchen counter in Corpus Christi Texas, and this is what I found interesting, fun, or noteworthy this week.

My latest podcast(s) –
AAJ 182: Jason Ackerman of Own Your Eating
Jason is one of the few Level 4 CrossFit coaches, and an all-around good guy. In this podcast he drops some major knowledge bombs about how to eat (and really eat what you like), and have abs (or be lean) all year long.
You should also consider following Jason on Instagram, he’s got the goods.
GBP 20: Jacob Heppner 3 Time CrossFit Games Athlete
If you like hearing from someone who is very passionate about what he thinks is right, and doesn’t care what people think… oh, and is one of the fittest people on earth… You’ll gotta checkout this interview with Jacob Heppner!
What I’m reading –
No Barriers: a blind man’s journey to kayak the Grand Canyon by Erik Weihenmayer
I mean, just try wrapping your head around the title (HE’S BLIND), let alone all of the other things that Erik has accomplished in his life. He climbed Everest!
Holy smokes, if you feel like there are things that you can’t accomplish, but would like to… here’s some motivation for you!
What I’m excited about –
The CrossFit Open just started!
This is one of the most fun times of the year for CrossFit enthusiasts and people that have a great gym community.
OR it can be one of the most nerve wracking times of the year for those trying to qualify for a spot at the CrossFit Games or moving on to the online qualifier (for Masters athletes).
For the last 4-5 years I would have told you that I was in the nerve wracked category because I was trying to qualify for the CrossFit Regionals. Which (as of this year) is no longer a thing, but was the intermediate step to making it to the CrossFit Games.
This year… I live in a van…
… and although I’m still training hard, being the most badass CrossFitter I can be isn’t the main focus of my life right now.
And because of that… I’m realizing how fun and exciting the CrossFit Open really can be.
Even if you’re not training at a CrossFit gym, I encourage you to see what the workout is each week (they release one workout a week for 5 weeks) and give it a try. It’s a fun thing to be a part of!
Quote that keeps being pondered –
“Rather than making excuses to not workout, start making excuses to workout.” – David Goggins
There’s a high probability that I didn’t get that exactly right, but no matter, you get it. This was a slap to my face because I make excuses TO workout all the time, and I’m realizing that most people don’t.
So, think about it… which side are you on?
Here are some lobs for you…
– I can’t go out on Friday night because I have a long workout in the morning.
– I’m not eating the chips because I want to feel good for my workout tonight.
– I’m not drinking because I want to go to the gym after this.
– I need to head home so I can workout.
If you have any good excuses TO workout… HIT REPLY AND LET ME KNOW!!!
