Hi!
With the last week of the CrossFit Open upon us (it will be over on Monday night) I’m excited to have some normalcy back in my life. I will train out the rest of next week, and then take the following week off of CrossFit.
Taking a week off of CrossFit is always hard, but please hold me to that. I will continue to do other activities, just no CrossFit.
And, I’ve already started preparing a blog/podcast on what I’ve learned, and how I’m going to improve from these learnings. This will include training, recovery, mindset, etc, and you are welcome to follow exactly what I’m going to do.
Enough about what’s on my mind, and let’s get to what I’ve discovered this week…
Food I can’t get enough of – Poke from 45th St Stop N Shop. This might be gods gift to sushi lovers. The funny thing is, this place is in the back of a convenient store. Ha! No joke! But it’s so good that I try to hold myself to eating there at least once a week. I know that you aren’t all located in Seattle, but if you haven’t tried Poke, I highly recommend that you do so (assuming you like raw fish).
What I’m drinking – So, last week I talked about how I’m drinking fresh lemon in my water daily. Now I’ve discovered that adding tumeric to my lemon water can give me an additional boost. It might be a little weird, and it does taste a little strange, but according to WebMD there are some well known benefits of taking tumeric, and a boatload of additional possible benefits. Check it out for yourself here.
What I’m reading – The Magic Of Thinking Big. This is a book that I’ve read several times, and decided to pick back up this week. It’s truly amazing how the same book can hit you in different ways at different times of your life. This is a short read that I blew through in less than a week. It’s so good if you need a boost, or just want to accelerate faster!
What I’m building – The Ultimate Home Gym, and I just release a podcast on how we are putting together a gym for our upcoming van adventure (more to follow about this). I’ve listed everything you need for a bad ass home, garage, or van gym.
What I’m using to track my recovery – WHOOP Strap. This is the most advanced activity tracker out there (that I’ve found), and is used by many world class professional athletes. It tracks your HRV, heart rate, body temperature, movement, and sleep to give you an incredibly well rounded view of your bodies readiness, and recovery levels. It’s so cool! Anyway, I just did a full review on the WHOOP, and I wanted to bring it up because they gave me a special discount code to share that gets you $125 off until the end of March. Click here to read my post, and use the code jbauer125 to get that special discount.
