Most of the world is under lockdown right now. There’s evidence that the lockdown is going to lift over the next few weeks in several places. China is already moving in this direction with both America and even Italy following suit. However, it’s probably still going to be quite some time before things return to normal. It’s unlikely, for instance, that places like gyms where social distancing is difficult at best are going to be able to open immediately. This leaves a lot of people with a key decision to make.
Do we give up on exercise or do we workout at-home? Well, the good news is that there’s no need to let go of your exercise routine. You may, however, need to take some time to adjust it to ensure that you can work out in the comfort of your own home. Basically, you should be thinking about setting up a home gym. Or, if you don’t have that type of space investing in one or two pieces of exercise equipment that you can use effectively even in a tight amount of space. So, let’s take a look at some of the possibilities.
Boxing
Feeling stressed while you are stuck inside unable to see friends or family members? Well, then it sounds like some boxing might be the perfect workout for out at home. Now, in some cases, you’ll need to attach a bag to your ceiling. This is difficult because you need to find a point that is going to be able to hold a lot of weight. Don’t forget, the bag is also going to move when you hit it. The last thing you want is for it to come crashing down. Some bags do come with full equipment to hang it on so no ceiling hook is necessary which is useful. But it does take up a lot of space. Other bags are attached to a stand. This can be filled with water or sand to keep it firmly in place. It takes up a little less room and it’s easy to move where you need it to be.
Of course, the bag or the dummy is only part of the puzzle. You also need to make sure that you find the right pair of gloves. It’s important to be aware that not all gloves on the market are equal. Running
Alternatively, you might want to think about going for a run. But since there’s a health pandemic perhaps you would perhaps to run inside. If that’s the case, then you can consider getting a treadmill. While these can be quite expensive there are budget-friendly options that are going to fit your bank balance and your cardio needs. Usually, the cost depends on how fast you can go as well as the tech that is included. Some treadmills can provide a lot of techs that you can use to effectively get more from your workout. For instance, you can track your heartbeat and ensure that you are in your desired training range. Typically, a decent treadmill is going to cost a couple hundred bucks, but the good news is that they aren’t as large as most people think. As such, you don’t have to worry about them taking up a massive amount of space in your home.
There are videos online of people using washing liquid on the floor and then walking in one space as a sort of makeshift treadmill. However, this is far more difficult than it seems and could lead to a nasty accident. It’s best to invest in an actual machine if you’re taking this root to stay in shape, and looking for one that is self propelled is the way to go.
Rowing
Of course, you might be interested in building up your total body endurance capacity. If that’s the case, then you might want to think about investing in a rowing machine. Again, the cost of a rowing machine will depend on the amount of tech that you want. However, it will usually be roughly the same cost as a treadmill. The big difference is that with a rowing machine you sit down and pull the apparatus toward you. There are different settings that determine how difficult it is to pull the device towards you (damper settings). So, you can take complete control of your workout. Again, there are more complex and elaborate rowing machines but if you’re just keen to build your endurance capacity, you can probably get away with a basic device. Weightlifting
Of course, you might also want to think about weightlifting. Weightlifting is useful because with weightlifting you can workout almost every part of your body. Particularly if you invest in a full exercise bench. Again, this depends on the amount of space you have because this can take up quite a lot of the area in your home.
With weightlifting, it’s important that you don’t start with too much too far. This can lead to muscle strain which can put you out of action for weeks. That’s probably the last thing that you want and it’s easy to avoid. You just need to make sure that you are getting a feel for the right weight level for you. Finally, you could consider completing a ninety second workout at-home. With a ninety-second workout, you can make sure that you are easily able to squeeze in exercise as part of your daily routine either in the morning or in the evening. Basically, you can workout at-home at a time that suits you best.
There are lots of different workouts you can include here from star jumps to pull-ups. If you mix it up and vary your workout as much as possible, then you won’t have issues with it becoming boring or losing their effectiveness.
