This email is coming to you from the big rock slabs of Squamish, BC, where we’ve already had some great food and big crashes.
Here’s what I’ve found fun, interesting, or noteworthy this week…
Common conversation with other bikers –
Random Biker: If you ride bikes so much, why do you also work out so hard?
Joe/Emily: So we can crash on our bikes and not get hurt.
Random Biker: Hmm. Sounds like a lot of work.
Joe/Emily: Yeah, it’s work, but we think it’s worse to break yourself when you crash. Muscles are like body armor. Not to mention there are a lot of fitness benefits you get from weight training that you don’t get from any kind of biking.
This is when they check out or ask what fitness benefits are missing from biking, and we get into the science.
Moral of the story: more muscle is better for life, biking, health, and longevity!
And, obviously, you can still get hurt with lots of muscle, but it sure does lessen the chances of getting hurt badly. If you have questions about this… ask!
We ate the 2nd best poke we’ve ever had –

We have never found a solid contender to the 45th Street Stop N Shop Poke Bar in Seattle, but Steve’s is right up there! Great flavors, super fresh fish and ingredients, freaking awesome!!
