This email is coming to you from the Silver Mountain (in Idaho) parking lot, where we’ve spent the last week enjoying Kellogg and riding the bike park.
Kellogg still truly has a small-town feel, which is great, and crazy, considering it’s right next to I-90!
On Monday, we were actually 2 of 4 bikers on the whole mountain. That’s how busy it wasn’t!
Here’s what I found fun, interesting, or noteworthy this week…
New gear that I’m loving –
We recently replaced our busted-up rooftop bag with this Rhino-Rack version, and I’m very impressed with the seams, straps, and size.
We use this to carry our mountain bike travel bags that we only need when we are flying with our bikes, and this works great!
They also have smaller sizes if you ever feel the need to get something like this.
Head down practice for learning new things –
We all should know this already, but I think it’s worth talking about because the results are outstanding!
If there’s anything that you want to learn or get better at… I’ve found that the best way to learn is to hire a great coach, put your head down, and get to work. AND EXPECT THE RESULTS TO TAKE WAY LONGER THAN YOU WANT!!!
That last part is really the key!
And, don’t get me wrong, grinding through the “longer than you want” part makes me super frustrated, and my brain actually hurts trying to learn new things.
But this system has worked for me to…
- Get in shape for races (including 10+ ultra marathons)
- Getting super lean and in shape (for 20+ years)
- Learning YouTube (still is making my brain hurt)
- Learning Spanish (the most brain pain here)
- Learning how to mountain bike better (finally showing its fruit)
*These are all things that I’ve used this process for and see the results. Hire a great coach, get to work, work harder and longer than you want, and then the results start coming.
What are you working on? You can apply this to almost anything!
NEW VIDEO: Colombia DAY 4 –
EPIC MTB Shuttle Day in Manizales Colombia – Day 4
In Manizales, we had a local guide named Jimena Lopez, which was awesome for a couple of reasons… 1. She was a GREAT, super fast rider/racer! 2. She was a girl! For some reason, there aren’t a ton of female mountain bikers, and getting to ride with someone of her skill level was a huge treat!
Check out the video and watch her rip!!
Also, of all the places we went in Colombia, Manizales is the one we’d go back to for a longer-term stay. And hopefully will soon!

That’s what I have for you this week. If you need anything, let me know! We’ll be trying to escape the heat wave.
Cheers!
