This is the second Skins compression pants review that I’ve done. The first was on their A400 active pants that are fantastic (read review here).
This time around Skins sent me a recovery pant (the RY400). Which really makes a lot of sense because increasing your circulation (via the compression) during rest should increase your recovery…
I’ve been primarily wearing the RY400‘s while sleeping.
Initially I was worried that having the pants on during sleep would be interrupting to my deep sleep pattern. But what I found while tracking my sleep with the MotionX iPhone app was no change whatsoever. In fact, I started looking forward to wearing them.
The Fit
If you’ve tried compression pants before then you know they can fit really weird. It can be like the manufacture never tested them on athletes. But that’s not the case with Skins. Skins RY400’s fit really nice, and rarely have to be pulled up, or adjusted. The seems on the pants just hug you in all the right places.
The Performance
Performance can be hard to measure. The way that I measure performance is by feel. For example, if I wear the compression pants after a hard workout where I think soreness is inevitable, but I’m not sore much at all, then the pants are performing for me.
What I found when wearing the RY400 compression pants was that my legs did (and do) feel better the morning after the nights that I wear them. I don’t feel as tight, and definitely have experienced less soreness. And by anyone, I literally mean, anyone. If you’re someone that avoids working out because of the soreness that you get, I highly recommend that you give these a try.
Who are the Skins RY400‘s for
I think the Skins RY400‘s are for two types of people. First, the athlete who wants to get every ounce of performance and recovery out of their body. Second, anyone who works out and would like to experience less soreness.
Conclusion
The Skins RY400‘s did help me to recover better than without them. I do recommend the RY400’s for anyone looking to increase their recovery, and be less sore from workouts and training. You just put them on, go to sleep, and wake up feeling good. If you know of anything else like that, I’m all ears!
