We’ve been posted up in Birch Bay, WA, where I had the chance to test ride one of the most exciting bikes in the lightweight eMTB category—the Transition Regulator SX.
At just 41.7 pounds, it feels every bit like a modern full-suspension trail bike… with a bonus motor for climbing.
???? Real Ride Stats from the Regulator SX
This thing might not have a huge battery, but it packs a punch. On one charge, I logged:
- 4,200+ feet of elevation gain
- Over 4 hours of ride time
That’s seriously impressive for a lightweight build. If you’re not trying to do back-to-back epics, this bike has plenty of juice for most sessions—especially if you ride it like a regular trail bike and use the assist intentionally.
The geometry and trail feel were super dialed. If no one told you it had a motor, you might not even realize it for the first few miles.
If you’re looking for a lightweight eMTB that still shreds—and doesn’t feel like a tank—this bike needs to be on your radar. Check it out here

? The Secret to Rapid Progress: Who You Ride With
Here’s something wild that also happened this week: I had one of the biggest leaps in skill progression I’ve had in a long time—and it came from just a few hours riding with better riders.
I’ve got coaching. I practice all the time. I seek out hard trails. But nothing compares to what happens when you’re surrounded by people who are clearly ahead of you.
Here’s what I mean:
I’ve been comfortable with 10-foot jumps. Then I rode with riders who were casually throwing 20-footers… and even eyeing 30s. That kind of exposure shifts your perspective fast. Suddenly those 20-foot jumps don’t feel so intimidating anymore.
This same principle applies to anything you want to get better at—fitness, business, riding, life.
Want to level up? Spend time with people who are operating at the level you want to reach. Your brain (and body) will rise to meet the challenge.
