The morning workout was a modified version of “Cindy” (10 minutes instead of 20 minutes), but thank goodness because it was hard to breath any oxygen out of the Costa Rican air.
Workout:
Pistol squats
10 minute AMRAP of:
5 pull ups,
10 hand release pushups,
15 squats.
Once we finished the workout we ate an amazing breakfast of omelets and fruit before having a great Pilates session with Autumn.
After Pilates we loading into an SUV that drove us to up into the mountains on a long dirt road towards our first adventure, zip lining and waterfall repelling. We pulled into a house with a large fenced in yard. At the house we were all fitted with harnesses and helmets, and hauled even farther up the mountain. On this part of the drive we were completely four wheeling! I’m talking driving through rivers and climbing up steep rocky hills until we reached our destination. With harnesses and helmets on we climbed up a wobbly ladder to a square wooden platform where we were clipped onto a cable and flung out over the canopy below. It was amazingly freeing to be 100’s of feet in the air! The adventure also included waterfall repelling and the crazy Monkey Drop where we were zip lined out over a pool of water and then dropped about 40 feet into the water below. It was awesome! There were also tight rope walks where you walked on one rope and had ropes to both your right and left sides to grab for support, all while 100’s of feet in the air! It was very mentally challenging, but fun!
For dinner we had a chicken, beans, and vegetable dinner before heading back to the house for nighttime yoga. At this point we were all totally spend and ready to crash!
Day 5 2/20/12
Morning WOD:
Handstand pushups
15 minute AMRAP of:
1 hill run,
20 clean and presses,
5 handstand pushups.
We had a crazy good egg breakfast and then Autumn taught an awesome Pilates class! From there everyone piled into at bus and we headed to the beach for some kayaking. We loaded two people to a kayak and paddled our already sore shoulders off until we reached a good snorkeling destination. I had forgotten how tired kayaking can make your shoulders! It was great to start snorkeling and let them rest. The snorkeling was only OK because I only saw two different kinds of fish. After a few minutes a two level party boat cruised up and our kayaking guide knew the boats owner so we climbed aboard and jumped off from the second level. The jumping off the party boat was a blast! Once we had completely worn ourselves out we climbed back into the kayaks for another paddling session back to shore.
The night was capped off by an amazing dinner cooked by our private chef, and a yoga session on the deck of the house with the sounds of the jungle relaxing our ears.
