We are just about to push off towards Jackson Hole. And unfortunately, it doesn’t look like we are going to get the massive amounts of snow that we’d hoped for but at least they have some of the best food in the country! 🙂 And we are driving slow so things could change. Fingers crossed!

My latest podcast –
AAJ 268: 3 things you should plan on doing in 2021
These probably won’t surprise you, but they are fun none the less. And I’ve jazzed up the YouTube video, so if you want to watch and see some extra editing… checkout the YouTube version of the podcast.
How I’m making money from old stuff –
I just sold all of my old snowboarding gear + other things via Facebook Marketplace
With hardly anymore work then taking pictures and making the Facebook Marketplace post, I was able to sell all of my old snowboard gear (helmet, bindings, boots), and made money from people coming to pick up this stuff rather than just donating or trashing it.
Super tip: Don’t go meet people to make the sale, make them come to you if they want the stuff. Or get them to pay before you ship anything (via PayPay for safety). I was no-showed 3 times meeting people prior to putting my foot down and telling people I couldn’t leave the house.
The Facebook Marketplace is such a great place to sell/buy things! It will even get better if they integrate payments in the future.
What dietary habit I’ve been testing –
For the last month, my first meal (around 11am after 16 hour fast) has been eggs (or other protein) and oatmeal with berries (or other low glycemic carbs). And for the last few years… a No Cow bar.
During the last month my workouts have felt low energy, unmotivated, with low performance output.
Then, by pure luck, I worked out a few days ago after only eating eggs without any additional carbs. And guess what… I felt great! Then I repeated this all week.
Side note: This is actually how I ate for years back when carb backloading was cool, and I was very competitive in CrossFit.
So, I’m avoiding carbs until after my midday workout (around 1pm). And so far, I’ve had much higher energy and my workouts have been very much improved!
I’ll keep you posted on how this continues.
2nd side note: Carb backloading is a diet where you eat all of your carbs at night after working out, and the carbs are supposed to be low quality (think donuts, pizza, etc.). I’m starting to eat my carbs around 3pm and keeping them super clean (oatmeal, berries, sourdough, etc.). I don’t condone eating the junk carbs but the timing can be powerful.

That’s what I have for you this week. The next time we talk I’ll probably be somewhere in Idaho, Montana, or Wyoming 🙂 (on my way to Jackson). If you need anything at all please let me know.
Cheers,
Joe
