This email is coming to you from… let’s see… Pendleton Oregon :-). I had to check because we’ve been driving for the last couple of days, heading back towards the Seattle area.
Wow, we have had an insane week of van issues. You should definitely checkout our van life video below.
Here’s what I found fun, interesting, or noteworthy this week…

This weeks CRAZY van life issues video –
Van Won’t Start – DEF Failure – Bursting Water Pipes – And Check Engine Light (don’t want to forget that one)
We also had an alert stating that we have brake wear and need to drive to a repair shop. All of this within about a week. I can’t make this sh** up!
You should definitely checkout the video, but fortunately we’ve been able to keep ourselves (mostly) sane and work through getting the van back to 100%.
Podcast that I’m listening to –
Things Happen For You, Not To You – Chasing Excellence podcast. This is such a great idea when you think about it. And I really recommend listening to the podcast, because they explain it and give examples in a very easy to understand way.
But, the idea of even bad things happening to you so you can learn and grow from them is a really cool way of looking at life. Our van having all these issues is a great example. We freaked out for a second, then moved on and figured out the solution. Now we’ve had that experience, and other similar experiences will be easier to handle.
Props for awesome people that I’d like to acknowledge –
The first person on this list is the maintenance guy at the KOA in Steamboat Springs, Adam. When we couldn’t start our van due to negative temperatures last Thursday he jumped at the opportunity to help us by not only letting us use their battery jumper, but also thinking outside of the box and using an industrial heater to heat our engine. He had a great attitude the whole time and even gave us hugs before we drove away!
Second, Jackson at Mercedes of Boise didn’t bat an eye when we told him about our urgent need to get our van serviced. And when I told him about our extended warranty (which was like pulling teeth to use in Seattle) he did all the leg work and got all the work covered free of charge. Not to mentioned his team fixed the problem in just over 24 hours.
If you ever get a chance to visit either of these places you are in for some exceptional service. Service the way it was meant to be, and we should all strive to give to others.
