Hi!
Happy Friday to ya!
This weekend we are headed out on an adventure that I’ve had on my list for some time. Emily (the girlfriend) and I are going to run/hike from Stevens Pass to Snoqualmie Pass in the Cascade Mountains.
This trip will cover around 70 miles in 3 days, and we are getting support (from some awesome people) both nights, so we don’t have to carry our tents, or extra food.
We will be doing video updates along the way, which I will upload sometime next week (there won’t be cell service on the trail).
Here are some of the things that I’ve been purchasing, thinking about, or found interesting leading up to this adventure.
New trail running backpack –
Salomon Advanced Skin 12 Set Hydration Vest. After going to REI, trying on all of their running backpacks/vests, and doing hours of online research (I like researching these things), I decided to go with this Salomon vest.
From all of my research, this vest/pack had more 5 star ratings than any other ultra running pack on the market.
It fits like a vest, but has 732 cubic inches of gear capacity. And what really tipped me over the edge was several reviews that talked about loving this pack for 50+ mile ultra runs.
I plan on doing a complete video review on this vest after the adventure.
What I’m reading –
Chasing Excellence by Ben Bergeron. I was just gifted this book by a good friend, and am excited to dig deeper. As I’ve mentioned in previous emails, Ben Bergeron is a coach of champions, and reading this book leading up to a 3 day/70 mile adventure seems like a good idea.
What we are eating on our adventure –
LOTS of bars! In fact, we should have asked Clif Bar to sponsor us on this craziness, we are bringing a ton of them! If anyone knows someone at Clif Bar, let me know.
Clif Bars, RX Bars, Quest Bars, Plantain Chips, Almond/cashew butter, honey, and banana sandwiches, and much more!

My top Instagram post –
Heading out on vacation anytime soon? Here are my secrets for actually losing weight while on vacation (and eating all the good food!). 🙂 #itispossible #podcast?
Rarely does one of my podcast images get the most likes for the week, so I think this is pretty cool!
