This email is coming to you from Angel Fire, New Mexico. Cool name, right?
New Mexico definitely has some interesting names. There’s even a town down south called Truth or Consequences ?????.
We’re here for the final weekend of Angel Fire’s bike park season before they close up for winter.
Here’s what I’ve found fun, interesting, or noteworthy this week…
Breathing exercises I’m trying –
Wim Hof Power Breathing
This is a big step up from the regular Wim Hof Breathing (which I highly recommend starting with if you’re not already doing a breathing routine).
Here’s how the power breathing goes:
5 rounds of:
20 deep, normal-paced breaths
20 deep, faster-than-normal breaths
20 deep, even faster breaths
Hold your breath on the inhale for 10 seconds, then go right into the next round.
It’s pretty intense for me—and I’ve been doing the normal Wim Hof Breathing for years! So, definitely start with the basic routine if you’re new to this. You can find guided versions online or through the Wim Hof app.

App I’m using to track my eating –
One of our longtime Get Better Project members was frustrated with MyFitnessPal (which we’d been using for years), and after some testing, discovered MacrosFirst.
I gave it a try and found it much easier to use—plus, no annoying ads in the free version.
I’ve been using MacrosFirst for about 6 months now and haven’t touched MyFitnessPal since.

Unexpected best day of the week –
Demoing bikes on a rainy day in Moab
Within 24 hours, Moab’s weather went from sunny and in the 80s to hail, temps in the 50s, and even some snow.
Unfortunately, I had rented a bike for a video review, and the cancelation window had passed.
So, we booked with Hazard County Shuttle Company and slogged up the rainy mountain to ride the Raptor Route—a 15-ish mile mostly downhill trail that turned out to be fantastic in wet conditions.
What started as a potentially ruined day turned into the most fun of the week! We hit a great trail, and I shot an awesome bike review video in the process.

That’s it for this week! Remember to surround yourself with good people who lift you up and push you to do hard things.
Cheers!
Joe
