Welcome to another Feel Good Friday! This post comes to you from a FREEZING COLD Sedona, Arizona! Yep, the temps are dropping to around 32°F at night, and our van’s heating pump decided to quit on us. But we’re rolling with it! In fact, the cold has actually improved my sleep!
Shoutout to Brian at Momentum Vans for handling the pump warranty, even on his day off. That kind of customer service deserves some major recognition!
Here’s what I’ve found fun, interesting, and noteworthy this week!
Feel Good Challenge of the Week
One small action can make a big impact.
This week’s challenge:
• Compliment a stranger on anything—big or small.
• Bonus: Compliment your friends and family members too!
I’m starting these Feel Good Challenges as a way to make the world a better place while pushing ourselves slightly outside of our comfort zones. It’s incredible how a small gesture can brighten someone’s day (and yours too).
Our eMTB Adventure: 35 Miles of Fun
The highlight of our week? Renting those eMTBs I mentioned last week and putting in 35 miles in 4.5 hours of epic riding! We pushed ourselves to the limit—and loved every second of it.
If you’re still on the fence about eMTBs, here’s what you need to know:
• You can push just as hard as you do on your regular bike. The main difference? You’ll climb hills twice as fast!
• You burn more calories on the downhill than the uphill—especially with a 45+ pound bike under you! Don’t believe me? Check your data!
• If you love downhill riding, eMTBs are a total game-changer. But if you’re a cross-country purist, I can see why they might not appeal to you.
For us, eMTBs mean more downhill laps and longer adventure days. I can’t wait to get more rides in soon!
Our Madeira YouTube Series Is LIVE!
After months of hard work and some next-level coaching from my YouTube mentor Dean, our first Madeira video is finally live!
We’re rolling out two new videos a week until the full series is complete. I really hope you enjoy the new style—we’ve put a lot of effort into creating an experience you’ll love. Thanks in advance for watching and supporting the channel!
Why Cold Weather Camping Isn’t All Bad
While freezing temperatures in Sedona weren’t what we expected, there are a few surprising benefits to camping in the cold:
• Better Sleep: Studies show that cooler temperatures can improve sleep quality by helping your body regulate its natural temperature.
• No Crowds: Winter camping means fewer people at popular trailheads and campgrounds. More peace and quiet for you!
• Mental Toughness: If you can handle chilly nights and cold mornings, it makes you stronger for everything else in life.
If you’ve never tried cold-weather camping, it’s worth layering up and giving it a shot!
Final Thoughts
That’s a wrap for this week’s Feel Good Friday!
If you’re looking for ways to improve your mood, performance, or overall well-being, start small. Compliment someone. Go outside. Move your body. Ride your bike. And most importantly—be kind!
Have an amazing weekend!
Cheers,
Joe
