This email is coming to you from (let me check where we are) Cedar Crest, New Mexico, at this peaceful campground nestled at the eastern base of the Sandia Mountains.
Here’s what I found fun, interesting, or noteworthy this week…
Interesting year-end data from Whoop –
Last year around this time, I shared my year-end Whoop data, so I thought it’d be fun to compare year-over-year to see how I did:
- I rode my bike 188 times (last year: 114 times).
- I completed 257 workouts (last year: 239 workouts—functional fitness or weightlifting). This doesn’t include biking.
- I hit 100% sleep 281 times (last year: 327 times).
- My highest HRV was 114 (last year: 118).
- Average HRV: 75 (last year: 71).
- My lowest resting heart rate was 40 bpm (last year: 44 bpm).
My biggest goal of the year was to get on my bike over half the days in the year, and I crushed that one! 188 rides were actually logged before year-end!
Have you had any HUGE wins in 2024? I’d love to hear about them!
My favorite workout of the week –
4 rounds for time:
10 sandbag squats
100’ sandbag carry
200m run
RX for sandbag: 150/100 lbs
You can hold the sandbag on your back, shoulders, or in a bear hug. Pick your favorite placement.
If you choose the right weight—where you’re not 100% sure you can go straight from the squats into the carries without setting the bag down—this is an outstanding workout!
It challenges you aerobically, anaerobically, mentally, and even your adaptability (because let’s face it, the sandbag WILL move on you). It’s a good one!
These are the Strongman Sandbags we love!
Goal & Accomplishments for 2025 –
It’s time to start thinking about what you want to accomplish next year.
Hopefully you have some downtime over the next few days to slow down and think about what would make 2025 freaking AWESOME!!!
Start writing some things down (if you haven’t already).
Also, is there anything that you got stoked about last Jan that fizzled out early on in the year? If so, why, and what could you do this year to avoid the fizzle?
That’s what I’ve got for you this week. I hope you have some crazy adventures planned for the weekend! We’re gearing up for an epic MTB adventure—maybe on e-bikes!
Cheers!
Joe
