I work with people all the time, and the number one fault that I see over and over again is people eating far too many carbs.
Not only that, but when I let them in on that surprising fact, they resist.
Seriously!?
This is crazy to me.
I tell them what they need to change, and they resist.
It’s not like I’m telling them to take some crazy drug.
Wait a second… That’s what doctors do. Now that’s a whole different topic.
I’m simply stating that carbs are an energy source for the body, and if you have excess body fat, you don’t need to be consuming many carbs. FYI: I’m not talking about veggies. Eat a TON of veggies!
What you need to be doing is teaching your body to start using that body fat as an energy source.
But whole grains are healthy… (says the media)
Go ahead, listen to the media. I’m 100% sure they have your best interest in mind. In fact, I bet their number one goal is to have all of us walking around looking like Greek Gods, able to catch lightening bolts, and immune to disease.
Wait a second… these are companies simply trying to make more money…? And they will tell us whatever the law allows…? No!?
Unfortunately, yes. This is the truth. If Cheerios was able to advertise that their cereal lowered the risk of cancer in 1 in a billion people, you would see a commercial every 5 minutes talking all about it.
And the commercial would say: Cheerios prevents cancer!
You should probably believe them if this happens.
I mean, I make my money by helping people get healthier, lose weight, get those abs, etc. But you should probably believe the commercials.
Complete craziness!!!
But it all comes back around to the fact that you’re probably addicted to carbs.
Carbs have been shown to be as addictive as illegal drugs such as cocaine and heroine.
So, this is why I get that backlash when I ask a diet coaching client to remove the carbs from their diet. It’s like telling a heroine addict that they need to give up heroine cold turkey.
Although the reward will be feeling energized, weight loss, less chance of disease, increase productivity, etc.
But that bread is so good! I know, I know. Now freaking stop eating it. You are an adult who can make decisions, and take action.
When it comes right down to it, maybe we need to start treating the out of control, overweight, carb eaters of the United States more like drug addicts.
I know when people come to my CrossFit gym they are plunged into a peer group full of health conscience people. People that want to see the whole of the group succeed.
Now that I think about it, this is kind of like rehab for unhealthy people. Or, people that follow the media’s lead.
You’re addicted to carbs, now find a CrossFit gym and get cleansed! Haha!
And if you need some coaching I charge $150 a month, and can help snap you out of carb addiction hard and fast.
Good luck! PUT DOWN THE BREAD!!!
