This email is coming to you from the beautiful free camping area of Moab (called Willow Springs). Unfortunately we just heard this will be the last year of free camping at Willow Springs because they found dinosaur prints on the rocks in the area that campers have been driving over.
This makes me happy that they are keeping people from destroying the amazing dinosaur tracks, but sad that all this beautiful camping will go away. It’s unbelievably beautiful out here!
Here’s what I found fun, interesting, or noteworthy this week…

Coolest of the cool things that could happen –
My Mom (Patty Bauer) qualified for the CrossFit Games in 4th place (unofficially, videos are still being reviewed) in the 65+ age group! I couldn’t be more excited and proud! It’s amazing, she just keeps Getting Better.
She is a testamate that even in your late sixties you can still keep getting more and more fit!
Her Instagram is empty right now, but we’ll see if we can get her to start showing off ;-). Make sure to follow her here.
Top adventure –
Mountain biking Captain Ahab Trail in Moab (Trail Forks info)
Checkout our video here! We were a little rusty, but this was SO FUN!!!
Trail running adventure (fail, kind of…) –
So… we ran the Stansbury Front Trail, which is outside of Grantsville UT.
It was perfect because the trailhead was just steps from where we camped the night before, and it was long enough to support the 3+ hours that we needed to run.
What we didn’t account for was the 3300 feet of elevation gain over 12 miles. Yep, that 3300 feet is about what we will do in all of the Leadville marathon that we are training for in June.
So, as you can imagine… it was a very HARD run (with lots of steep uphill walking), but it’s nice to know that we can handle the elevation that we will be facing in June. Haha!
Upcoming adventure –
White Rim Trail & Cataract Canyon
Starting Saturday we will be mountain biking the White Rim Trail through Canyonlands National Park to the Green River, where we’ll whitewater raft through Cataract Canyon.
It’s a week long adventure that we are doing with a couple friends that we met on our Grand Canyon rafting adventure.
What this means…
- You should get motivated by our adventures to go find some of your own (even if they are the same).
- I will not be sending out a Feel Good Friday next Friday. But the following week will have all the fun stuff from our trip. 🙂

That’s what I have for you this week. If you need anything you might have to wait until next week. Sorry! Have a great week!
Cheers!
