Can you believe all the snow that’s falling in CA and UT? So crazy! And on a year that I’m not chasing snow. Palm to face.
Next year we’ll have the new van that’s super setup for the cold. Hopefully we’ll get more big snow :-).
Here’s what I found fun, interesting, or noteworthy this week…

Hike we are doing this Summer –
Emily is feeling lucky and she pulled a John Muir Trail permit for four of us to hike the 200 miles in Sept. Oh yeah!
It’s amazing how much planning needs to go into a long distance, multi day hike like this. Just figuring out how much food we need to bring, and setting up the food drops is quite a big endeavor.
Super stoked!
Movement of the week –
Single leg squats for the win!
For some reason there are a lot of people that dislike this movement, but I think it’s fantastic! I think people don’t like it because it’s hard.
These improve balance, create body awareness in space, and have massive strength benefits that transfer into so many daily movements and sports.
The key to make this safe is controlling your speed, not going lower than your flexibility currently allows, and keeping your knee pointed toward your pinky toe.
You can even start by sitting onto a chair or holding a pole for balance.
Here’s my coaching video to get you going
Another CRAZY and fun ride –
Conquering Captain Ahab: Epic Mountain Bike Ride with Unexpected River Crossing
This is a lot of people’s favorite trail because of how fun it is in so many ways.
Which is why we decided it was worth it to cross the flooding river to ride the trail :-).
Watch the video to see what I mean.
