This email is coming to you from Winter Park Colorado. Where I feel like they should have a rotating name… Winter Park in the colder months, and Summer Park in the warmer months. It really is a “summer park” this time of year!
We are mostly recovering from the marathon this week, but they have some great mountain biking here, so we’ll probably get out on the trails to check them out.
Here’s what I found fun, rewarding, or character building this week…

Top adventure this week –
Running the Leadville Marathon (one of the hardest in the US)
All of the training, all of our friends being there, and the difficulty of this race made it nothing short of magical!
I wrote an hour by hour fueling recap that includes how I was feeling during the race.
Thought I’ve been pondering –
Seeking out the easy life makes you soft without much growth
Every single time I do something that’s really, really hard I learn so much about what I’m capable of. Not to mention I get a burst of happy hormones that last for weeks/months.
I’m thinking that we would all be better, happier people if we did 1-3 really hard physical feats a year. Just like your daily workouts, schedule these events and work towards them. Also, you will be more committed if these are things that you sign up and pay money for, but it could just be a really long, hard hike/backpack (with friends or solo).
This week in van life –
Mountain biking – trail running – eating – and drinking coffee in Frisco Colorado
We put in a HARD training week in Frisco before the marathon (probably too hard), and tried to eat our way to recovery :-). Here’s the story in video form! Please like, subscribe, and share these if you actually enjoy them, it’s a HUGE help to us.

That’s it for this week. I am on the search for some 70 pound rubber HEX dumbbells to add to our van collection (that aren’t double the price they should be) so I can put some muscles back on after all that running. If you need anything at all, please let me know!
Cheers!
Joe
