This is an Inov-8 review for f-lite 230 CrossFit/Training shoes. I wanted to get a shoe that was primarily for my CrossFit workouts so I recently got a pair of Inov-8 f-lite 230’s.
The first things that attracted me to the Inov-8’s were their bright blue color and the buzz around the CrossFit industry. They look awesome! They practically GLOW!!!
When I first put them on I wasn’t used to wearing a minimalist shoes so they felt a little weird. That first day I wore them to the box at StoneWay CrossFit for a WOD. We were doing deadlifts and the Inov-8 f-230 shoes performed great. The soles of the Inov-8’s have great structure and feel nice and stiff when deadlifting.
Although I liked how they were performing I still wasn’t sure about their fit/shape so I decided to wear them around wherever I went to see if they’d break in a little. After a couple of days wearing the Inov-8 f-lite’s around they started feeling better and better. The soles are stiff which is great for lifting, but the upper is soft and flexible for comfort. Now I really enjoy wearing them everywhere. They fit well enough that I don’t need to tie them. I just slip em on and go! I do lace them up for the workouts of course, and now I’m wearing them for CrossFit about 75% of the time. I wear my Five Fingers for the remaining 25% of the workouts to strengthen my feet for ultra running.
In conclusion if you’re considering getting a pair of shoes for CrossFit I would highly recommend the Inov-8 f-lite 230’s. They’re minimalist, but still have enough of a sole for running and high box jumping.
If you have any specific questions for me about the shoes please write them below in the comments section. Also, if you enjoyed this post would you please LIKE it so I can help spread the word about my blog?
Now get outside and have fun by working hard! 🙂
PS in the description of the Inov-8 f-lite 230’s it says that they aren’t meant for long runs, but I’ve found that as long as you have a good foot strike (meaning mid foot or for foot) they are great for longer runs. I believe that this statement was used because if you’re a heel striker (like most shoes these days wrongly promote) then you’re going to break yourself.
