In my programing Wednesdays are supposed to be my off days, but one of the major reasons that I do CrossFit is to be ready for anything that life can throw at me, especially the fun life activities! So when I heard that Steven’s Pass was supposed to get pounded with snow I was ready to take one for the team and go enjoy a powder day! 🙂 The funny thing that I noticed was that when I asked people if they wanted to join me, no one was willing to take any time off work. What gives people? Are you too out of shape to enjoy a good powder day? If that the case then you have other issues, but I’m guessing that people are just too scared to take time off of work! My theory is that when you get a chance to LIVE you take it!!! Have fun, and if you’re stuck in a job that won’t allow you to take time off or sick days then find another job! Sorry! I’m pretty passionate about people living life and not working in jobs that they don’t love that don’t allow them to live the life they want. Back to my topic. Depending on how beat up I get from this snowboarding adventure I might take tomorrow off from working out, or there’s a chance that I’ll go snowboarding again tomorrow and then take the next day off. Basically what I’m saying is that I think you shouldn’t feel like you’re stuck to your training schedule at all cost. There’s a good chance that I’ll actually get more out of snowboarding then if I were to stick to my training schedule the next few days.
I should also mention that I’ve made another observation about my training and diet. Because my body had been feeling more sore than usually I upped my fish oil consumption to 9 grams per day, and after 2 hard training days I’m feeling very fresh and recovered! If you have any positive experience with fish oil or other supplements please post them to the comments below! I’m always interested to hear what’s working for you! Positive things only please! Here’s a link to the fish oil that I take: Kirkland Fish Oil at Amazon.com.

The day at the mountain was nothing short of amazing! It was a complete powder day! The light powder that you can fly though with snow up to your waist! Wow! It continued to snow hard all day, but the visibility stayed great! Now my legs are shot :-), but there’s supposed to be another 4-8 inches of snow tonight, so we decided that we’re going back up for another round tomorrow! To aid in my legs recover process after getting home I got in the hot tub followed by the ice cold pool. I repeated this process 3 times spending 2-5 minutes in the ice water each round. I will also load up on a large steak and salad dinner, and lots of water. There’s nothing like a great powder day! We’re leaving at 7am tomorrow morning if you want to come?
