This was an unusual weekend for me. I spent the weekend in sunny San Diego at an information marketing seminar, and only worked out once. Not only did I only workout once, but I also let up a little on my strict eating habits. This might sounds completely crazy, but I actually got leaner from taking time off and relaxing. Isn’t that crazy?!
When was the last time you laid off your diet and exercise program? It’s not a bad idea to take a week off every six months to let your batteries recharge (mentally and physically).
This time away will give your muscles a chance to fully recover. Which will improve your metabolism, decrease your stress hormones, and prime your body to come back stronger than ever! Not to mention a little time away from the gym (or box if you’re a crossfitter) will result in a rejuvenated intensity and passion for working out.
So if you’ve been training hard for six months or more and are feeling a little drained maybe you should take a week off.
Here’s to your health and fitness!
