Why CrossFitters Should Have Strength Wraps
Have you ever been lifting weights and had your wrists hurt? I know I sure have! And the crappy thing is that the pain doesn’t go away, AND it takes it’s forever to heal. This is because blood flow to the wrists is less than optimal, and with less blood flow… you get less healing.
So, what do you do about it?
Do you do any of these lifts? Front squats, cleans, snatches, or overhead squats. If you do, and you haven’t had wrist pain, you’re in the minority.
I actually stayed away from wrist wraps for years, but after adding cleans and snatches to my regular exercise arsenal (about a year ago), my wrist pain was becoming unbearable. I needed to find a solution!
I started by trying the elastic wrist wraps that others at my CrossFit gym were using. They helped, but not a lot. So, I wasn’t convinced those were the solution, but I didn’t know what the solution could be… Taping worked, but was expensive, and left marks on my skin (without pre-wrap).
Then, I was introduced to Strength Wraps by another CrossFitter during my Philippines travels. My first impression was… “those are strange”… Strength Wraps are very long, and don’t look like normal wrist wraps. But when you put them on, your wrists get Locked Down. It’s something about the fabric, and the number of times your wrist is wrapped that seems to add the security.
Before using Strength Wraps I endured sharp burning pain in my wrists and forearms every time Olympic lifts showed up in my programing. AND it was getting to the point where overhead presses, push presses, and snatches were starting to cause pain as well.
Since those painful days I’ve started wearing Strength Wraps for all of my Olympic lifting, and overhead exercises, and I’ve seen a marked difference in wrist health. My wrist felt WAY better on day 1 with the Strength Wraps, and have been feeling better and better ever since.
I also started regularly doing MobilityWOD’s for my wrists and forearms.
After seeing the difference that Strength Wraps provide, a handful of other CrossFitters at my gym have inquired, and purchased Strength Wraps for themselves.
If you’re having any kind of wrist pain during your workouts, I highly recommend Strength Wraps. Don’t let your wrist pain go as long as I did before you do something about it. Protect your wrists early, and keep them healthy.
Not to mention… you can get Strength Wraps in some awesome colors to match your CrossFitting style ;-).
