This email is coming to you from a much warmer Albuquerque, New Mexico, where most of the snow has melted and we’re gearing up to ride bikes again.
Here’s what I found fun, interesting, or noteworthy this week…
Healthy Twist on a Tasty Snack –
I know a lot of us grew up eating buttered microwave or movie theater popcorn. Unfortunately, that popcorn is usually loaded with ingredients you definitely don’t want near your digestive system. But here’s some fun news for you:
If you love the taste of buttered popcorn, try getting some high-end organic rice cakes and putting a VERY thin layer of Kerrygold (or another high-quality butter) on them. This will blow your mind! It tastes just like buttered popcorn!
I like to snack on a few of these minimally buttered rice cakes after my post-workout protein shake, or when I’m watching a movie and craving that classic movie-and-popcorn vibe.
SUPER HACK
Always eat this with some protein leading the way, and you’ll have a much higher chance of your body using those carbs and fats for all the good things.
Workout of the Week –
It’s super simple, but if you pick the right weight, it’s dynamite!
15 min AMRAP of:
200m run
3 double DB snatches
200m run
5 DB clean and jerks
We did this with 70/50-pound dumbbells, and each set really tested our ability to finish those last reps.
Supplement I’m Testing –
And I think it’s working great…
NAD+ by Rho (Amazon)
Rho claims that NAD+ “Enhances Cellular Energy & Longevity, provides smooth, clean, and focused energy, protects your DNA from stressors, promotes collagen synthesis for healthy skin, and improves muscle function and post-workout recovery.”
I’ve been testing NAD+ from a few different companies on and off over the last 3-4 months, and I can tell you that I absolutely feel more energy during my workouts when I’m taking it.
You could argue it’s the placebo effect, but either way, I’ll take it! I’m pushing hard during my workouts and feeling great!
——
That’s what I have for you this week. We’re off to put in some miles on the mountain bikes, and I hope you’re also planning to get some activity in this weekend!
Exercise almost always makes you feel better!
Cheers,
Joe
