Ironman Cozumel Packing
As we roll into the last few hours of Wednesday I wanted to dive into a blog post about the my upcoming Ironman Cozumel event and how I’m feeling about my training and taper that just started.
As I was coming into my taper I hit a snag with some achilles tendon pain/tightness. It really hit me after doing Fight Gone Bad last Friday. The box jumps put me over the edge, so I’ve been playing the ice and Arnica game ever since. The good news is that I don’t feel any tightness at all now, but will still be babying them all the way up to Ironman Cozumel.
The other interesting thing about this Ironman that’s been different from my last Ironman (Ironman Canada) is the traveling. For Ironman Canada I just tossed everything in the car and headed up to Canada, but for Ironman Cozumel I have to be much more planned. I was able to borrow a bike box from a friend, but have to pay $200 each way on Continental Airlines, which sucks because it was a free checked bag at the time that I purchased my ticket. I’m also having to make sure that I have all of my nutrition ready to go, and checked into a bag because I don’t know if I’ll be able to find what I need near where I’m staying in Mexico.
Here’s a list of what racing/training gear I’m bringing to Ironman Cozumel:
-1 Bottle Hammer Gel and 2-4 Flasks
-1/4 Tub Caffe Latte Hammer Perpetuem Powder
-8 Gu Roctane Gels
-2 Tubes of Nuun Electrolytes
-4 Packs of Hammer Endurolyte Electrolyte Caps
–2XU Tri Training Shorts
–2XU Racing Kit
–XTERRA Velocity-M Speedsuit
–BlueSeventy Hydra Vision Goggles
–Bell Racing Bike Helmet
-Sun Glasses
–Pearl iZumi Bike Gloves
-Scattante Bike Shoes
–Nike Free Running Shoes
-2 Pairs of Racing Socks
-8 Water Bottles
–Profile-Design Aqua Cell Water System
-Garmin Forerunner 305 and Charger (discontinued)
-Bib Holder/Strap
-5 Days of Workout Clothes
-7 Days of Almonds
-12 Quest Protein Bars
-6 Lara Bars
-1/4 Bag of Progenex Recover Protein Powder
-Jack3d (no longer available)
–Fish Oil, Vitamin-C, Multi-Vitamin
Trust me when I say that it’s much easier to just throw all of this stuff into your car! I’m still trying to decide how I’m going to get everything to Ironman Cozumel… Either way it’s going to be a fun adventure! If you have any questions about any of the things that I’m brining or anything about the race type it into the comments section below.
Now get outside and have fun by working hard! 🙂
