If you are like me, and just aren’t the type to enjoy sitting on the beach watching the world pass you by, then here are some vacations that could be perfect for someone like you (or me…).
When on vacation, sometimes there is nothing better than grabbing your favorite pair of running shoes, a water bottle, and heading out on the road to explore the surroundings. If that sounds fun to you… here are a few exciting active vacation’s that you might consider.
Cycling the Dolomites
You’ll want to make sure that you’ve been active leading up to a trip like this, as it sounds like there are hardly any flat stretches, and it runs for a hilly 32 miles.
The Dolomites are part of the southern Alps, and cover three Italian provinces. I LOVE Italy!
Since there are some hills, you will get a little bit of a break as you go down – but this is super active adventure that you should be ready for.

Snorkeling in Croatia
I’ve always wanted to go to Croatia! And, if you have dreamed of spending time under the sea, then Croatia sounds like the perfect place to go. It is one of the best budget-friendly active vacations, and I bet you will be hard-pressed to talk about anything else for years to come.
Active vacations in Croatia aren’t hard to come by, and snorkeling is just one of many things you can choose to do. Shoot, I’d just like to grab my running shoes and explore!
Trek the Inca Trail
Another one that’s high on my list… If you want to do a little bit of soul-searching and work those muscles, then this sounds perfect. Machu Picchu is always high on people’s lists (including mine), and if it’s on yours, you can make it VERY active. The trek to reach it takes around four days to complete, with a medium to high fitness level recommended. Yes please!
However, do consider that if you aren’t a big fan of altitude, you will be reaching over 13,000 feet for this one.
What makes it sound so exciting is that most of the 25 Miles that you will be walking are pretty steep, narrow paths. So cool!
Triathlon training vacation
If you want to do it all and then some, you should check out some of the possibilities of triathlon training while on vacation.
Training for a triathlon has never been so enjoyable! Imagine a resort that caters to everything you need – with a giant pool, large bike tracks, and plenty of fresh air, you will never have trained so well.
Getting active while on vacation is becoming more prevalent; there is nothing quite so enjoyable as combining fresh air with a little bit of sweat and amazing views. Throw in some good food and a change of surroundings, you are invigorated enough to be your best.
What makes active vacations so exciting is that most people who attend them are also interested in the same thing; you will be surrounded by people who have the same motivations.
And you never know, you might come away from triathlon training with a friend for life!
