Anytime that you get the chance to run in Sunny weather, take it! Or do any workout for that matter! I woke up yesterday to San Diego 70 degree weather, so of course I ate my breakfast and grabbed my running shoes :-)! Running down the street with my shirt off was a feeling that I hadn’t had for a while and it was an amazing feeling!
The path that I was running on was a mostly flat crushed gravel trail that ran along a local road. It was a 4 mile out and back with only 2 streets that I needed to cross. The funny thing is that I loved running in the 70 degree weather, but it was actually harder than I expected. I was huffing and puffing very early on, and at a pretty slow pace. Even though I wasn’t traveling as fast as I’d liked, it was still a 70 degree day in San Diego and I was getting my pasty skin tan! Gotta stay positive!
During the 4 mile out and back I don’t have to much interesting stuff to report, but you absolutely need to do your training (CrossFit, CrossFit Ironman, or whatever your doing) outside if you get some good weather, wherever you are! Get out of the gym and off of the treadmill and go play!
Later on in the day my buddy wanted to do another few miles at a nearby park and I absolutely agreed! I have no idea what the weather will be like in Seattle when I get back. We could have rain and overcast for the next 3 months! LOL! We put in about 2 easy miles through a little park that was filled with palm trees, small ponds, and disc golf holes. This stuff is just life-rejuvenating!
After all of this training, I had a well-deserved “cheat day” that needed to take place! One of my must hit places while in California is always In-N-Out Burger! So we rolled through the drive through and picked up 2 double doubles, which I proceeded to consume in about 3 minutes flat! Next on the agenda was a good pizza place, which we found at a hole in the wall place in Valley Center. I got a delicious pizza with pepperoni, onions and mushrooms! Yum! Then (yes then!) we headed to a famous donut shop called Peterson’s Donut Corner. Peterson’s Donut Corner has tons of HUGE donuts at a very low price! I have to say that the sugar donut that I got at Peterson’s Donut Corner was the best donut I’ve ever had! Now, I’m not a donut connoisseur, like I am with pizza, but this placed rocked! After that eating craziness it was time to pass out! 🙂
