The road to health and fitness doesn’t have to be lonely. In fact, everyone from PTs to friends and family can support you in some shape or form. Nonetheless, it is still a personal journey that only you can take accountability for. It doesn’t matter whether you start running or you start stacking up the plyo boxes in the gym; you need to ensure that you are doing a workout that works out for you! Your fitness and health matter and the way you go about it will be what gets you feeling great again!
And, there’s no time like the present to get started. Here’s what can be done to regain control of your fitness journey once and for all.
1| Understand The Fitness Journey Process
While it’s true that all exercise is good exercise, maximized efficiency is the key. After all, it’s likely that you’ll have limited time for workouts.
One of the best options is to increase your knowledge of your body, fitness, nutrition, and everything that our schools and parents fail to teach us. You might want to go all-in and get a personal training certification like the master personal trainer certification. Aside from boosting your knowledge for your personal progress, it can open the door to a career in fitness, which can be a career or back up plan.
This can help unlock fasting health and fitness improvement, while also giving you to the tools to help others when they ask how you did it.
Knowledge is power in your fitness journey. Use it as the foundation to build upon, and you can’t go wrong.
2| Avoid Problematic Habits
Although it’s important to seek optimal progress, you must not forget that consistency is king. There is little point in starting a process that you will give up within a few weeks. If you think fasting sucks, for example, you should look to introduce a different approach to nutrition. Otherwise, you will start to resent it and then subsequently give up.
A better relationship with nutrition – or fitness – will make you health easier to control. Especially as you age.
3| Make It Fun
Having the desire to be fit is great. Sadly, that initial enthusiasm will fade if you fail to add the fun factor.
There are plenty of ways to make fitness fun, such as team sports or competing against friends with fitness Apps (like The Get Better Project). Arguably the best solution, however, is to simply add more active tasks to your routine. Family bike rides, interactive computer games, and gardening can all be good options. The key is to do what’s right for you.
Once fitness moves from being a chore to being a hobby, success will follow. When did playgrounds become only for kids?
4| Set Deadlines
A strong mindset is the most important weapon in your arsenal, by far. Therefore, any tool that can put you in the right frame of mind should be grabbed with open arms. Setting a goal like “I will drop 20lbs” is great, but saying “I will drop 20lbs by December 31st” is better. It encourages you to track your progress and make adjustments if you ever fall behind the intended schedule. The key is to ensure that you won’t keep putting the deadline back.
An even better way to lose weight is to have a performance based goal, like signing up for a bike race, marathon, or CrossFit competition. Having a goal to lose weight can be pretty unexciting, but running a marathon will give you confidence like crazy, and lose the pounds.
5| Achieve Balance
Fitness is an important aspect of maintaining a good life. It’s important for your image as well as your physical and mental wellbeing. Nevertheless, it’s vital to remember that this is only one aspect of your life. You need to maintain balance with your career, relationships, and other hobbies. A lot of people think that the six-pack or toned physique will bring happiness. The truth is that, while it helps, it needs to be supported by those other factors.
That being said, the majority of the US has a hole where their health and fitness is concerned. And you cannot be the best at your career, relationship, family, or other hobbies if you are unfit and unhealthy. So focus on your health and fitness no matter what!
