This morning the time change hit me, and my early morning CrossFit Endurance Ironman workout was thrown out the window! Because I decided to get extra sleep instead of getting up and being tired all day at my seminar, I planned a lunchtime workout. As you know this can easily be done by slipping into the hotel gym or at the nearby city park.
On a side note, I ran into a 3 time Ironman yesterday at my internet marketing event (Traffic Geyser SMMM) and was given some good advice about Ironman training and dieting. He said to checkout Hammer Nutrition for some great scientific info about durning race nutrition. When I told him about my odd CrossFit style Ironman approach, he said he’s heard of it, but gave me a weird look and said that I should do a few long rides to practice my race nutrition. I think this would definitely be valuable, although I haven’t had a problem with any of my races thus far.
Jump forward to 2:30pm. I just finished my lunchtime workout (I was able to get into the hotel gym again). I took the CrossFit main site workout, which was 7 rounds of 10 wall ball shots @20 and 10 pull ups, then I modified it to 10 thrusters @30 DB’s and 10 strict pull ups. There weren’t any medicine balls for the wall balls, so I went with thrusters as a sub, and there wasn’t a pull up bar, so I hung from the pull down bar on the multi purpose machine and did strict pull ups. The workout went great! I ran over to a coffee shop and grabbed a Horizon Dairy low fat chocolate milk, and was back to my conference for some great internet marketing learning!
I can’t tell you how refreshed your body will feel if you give this a try! Even if you just go for a 15 minute workout it will make a world of difference and you’ll be able to stay fit and retain more information than if you’d gone to lunch and eaten a gut bomb!
