We drove though Leadville Colorado on our cross country road trip and thought that it was a great idea to run part of the Leadville 100 race trail. Because we didn’t know where we were going we stopped and talked to some of the locals, and they pointed us in the right direction. When the running started we could see the clouds rolling in and hear the thunder in the distance. About 20 minutes into the run the lightening was less than 5 miles away, and the pit of my stomach said that it was time to get out of there. We turned around and ran double time back to the car without having any unexpected jolts of hot energy. We’ll have to go back to finish our run sometime soon…
